This project is a 12-unit apartment building, 13,000 sq ft, designed to meet the modesty criteria set out by the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation (NLHC), under their affordable housing program. All of the 12 units are two-bedroom and two of the 12 are accessible. The client's market was for seniors so this was considered when planning the apartments and in the selection of materials, finishes and colours for both the interior and exterior of the building.
Building on the success of the first phase of the Eastern Gate Manor Complex, this building mirrors the 12-unit, 13,000 sq ft apartment building, almost exactly with the exception of some updated materials and finishes for the interior decorating schemes. As with the original building, all of the 12 units are two-bedroom and two of the 12 are accessible. The new building also included an elevator that will eventually serve both buildings when a future link between the buildings is constructed.
